Paraben free cosmetics, simply means cosmetics which are free of paraben. Specifically cosmetics which do not have methylparaben, propyl paraben, butylparaben or ethylparaben in them.
What is a paraben and why is it bad?
Paraben is a preservative as it has antifungal and antimicrobial properties. This means that the shelf life of the products is longer. Paraben is used widely as a preservative as it is cheaper to use parabens. This means you can buy cosmetics for way less but at the cost of your health.
Why is Paraben bad?
Parabens can mimic estrogen, disrupt normal hormone function and cause havoc in your body. It doesnt matter whether you are male or female or child, all can be affected with parabens.
When I saw that it affects your hormone levels I knew it was bad news. Surprisingly or not so surprisingly many websites and brands claim that the low amounts of paraben used does not affect your health.
My question is, how do they know?
They know by testing their products on us ( eventually). After 10 or 15 years when many people have some health issues, that’s when the alarm bells go off and thats when they say, Oh this affects health. But sadly by that time it may be too late for most of us.
Paraben can cause beast cancer, have been found in tumours. So I don’t know about you, this is warning for me to stay away from any product which has parabens. It doesnt matter what the safe levels are, I do not want to risk it.

These are well known side effects or paraben. I dont see these as side effects, these are health hazards.
