How to Play Flash Point: Fire Rescue
Let’s dive into the rules and how to play this exciting board game! The goal of the game is to rescue all the civilians, get them to the helipad outside, and then get everyone off the board. There are three rounds with 8 turns each.
The first two rounds have 3 Fire Hazards each, and the third round has 4 hazards. At the start of each round, players draw 4 Fire cards.
At the start of their turn, each player must select one of these cards and add it to the building. You do not reveal the card and there is no way to know where any of the hazards are or how they will affect you.
Hook & Ladder Company
The firefighters make up the majority of the team and must navigate the building to rescue the civilians. For each civilian rescued, the firefighters receive 1 additional victory point when they get off the board. The firefighters take a -1 penalty if they have to rescue themselves.
The firefighters get a 4-minute countdown at the start of each round. If they do not have all their civilians off the board by the time the countdown ends, they lose 1 victory point for each civilian still inside.
The firefighters start on the roof and must travel down the ladder to the 5th floor. They must then travel through the burning building to rescue the civilians.
Firefighters
There are three types of firefighters in the game: Hazmat specialist, Hotshot, and Rescue Specialist. At the start of the game, the players choose one of these types and keep their identity secret from the other players.
The Hazmat specialists gain 2 victory points for each civilian rescued. They also get 1 additional victory point if all the Hazmat specialists’ civilians are rescued.
The Hotshot starts on the 5th floor and must rescue the civilians on that floor. If the Hotshot does not rescue the civilian, he/she takes 1 damage for each card in the elevator.
The Rescue specialist starts on the 5th floor and must rescue the civilian on that floor. If the Rescue specialist does not rescue the civilian, she takes 1 damage for each card in the elevator.
The Heroine (Women in Fire Fighting)
The heroine must rescue the civilians on the 5th floor and then travel to the helipad outside. The heroine gets 1 victory point for each civilian she rescues on the 5th floor.
If the heroine rescues her civilian, she also receives 1 additional victory point.
The heroine starts on the 5th floor and must travel down the elevator and out of the building to the helipad outside. If the elevator is full or broken, the heroine travels down the stairs.
The Firefighter w/ a Breathing Apparatus
The firefighter w/ a breathing apparatus must travel through the building to turn off the fire alarm. He/she must travel down the elevator and then up to the 4th floor to turn off the fire alarm.
If the firefighter is successful, the alarms are turned off, there are no fire Hazards in the building, and the civilians are rescued.
If the firefighter fails to turn off the fire alarm, there are Hazards in the building. The firefighters get 2 minutes to turn off the alarm. If they fail to turn it off in the allotted time, they take 1 damage for each card in the elevator.
Triage and Care Ambulance Personnel
The ambulance personnel must rescue the civilians on the 4th floor and then travel to the helipad outside. The ambulance personnel gets 2 victory points for each civilian they rescue.
If the ambulance personnel rescue their civilian, they receive 1 additional victory point.
The ambulance personnel start on the 4th floor and must travel down the elevator and out of the building to the helipad outside. If the elevator is full or broken, the ambulance personnel travel down the stairs.
Confined Space Rescue Specialist
The confined space rescue specialist must travel through the burning building to rescue the civilians on the 3rd floor. He/she must travel down the elevator and then up to the 3rd floor.
If the confined space specialist is successful, the civilians are rescued and there are no Hazards in the building.
If the confined space specialist fails, there are Hazards in the building. The firefighters get 1.5 minutes to rescue the civilians on the 3rd floor. If they fail to do so, they take 1 damage for each card in the elevator.
